Selangor is ready to face a huge high-tide phenomenon expected to hit the state mid-October.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali has also ordered affected agencies and the state Irrigation and Drainage Department (JPS) to repair embankments that were damaged due to the recent high-tide floods, especially in high-risk areas.

“According to the weather forecast, a similar incident will occur in mid-October which will spill into November and December.

“All agencies and the JPS need to reinforce weak embankments so that they will not break in the future,” he said after visiting flood victims at the Dewan Orang Ramai Kampung Tok Muda this morning.

Early this week, a high-tide phenomenon caused floods in 13 areas in Selangor and damaged several embankments along coastal areas.

Some 224 people from 52 families were also evacuated to three relief centres in the state.
