The Selangor Immigration Department detained 29 foreigners in an operation at the Klang wet market here early today.

Its Operations Unit chief, Jaimin Sumpit, said the foreigners aged between 16 and 45 comprised of Indonesians, Bangladeshis, Nepalese and Myanmar nationals.

They were picked up from 7am after checks revealed that they did not possess any valid travel documentation, misused travel documents and had overstayed.

"Most of them were working at the market and nearby grocery stores. We have also issued summonses on four employers who had hired the foreigners," he said in a statement here today.

Jaimin said all the foreigners were taken to the department's headquarters for further action.
