Commotion broke out at SEGi University Kota Damansara in Petaling Jaya this afternoon after a student discovered a suspicious looking object in one of the toilets.

Petaling Jaya police chief ACP Mohd Zani Che Din told Astro AWANI today that police received a phone call around 10am following the discovery of an unattended bag.

He said that police conducted a thorough search in the building and confirmed no such object found.

After being notified by the university about the object, the police prompted some 2,000-odd students and employees to evacuate the campus.

SEGi University deputy vice-chancellor Datuk Prof Jamaludin Mohiadin in a Facebook status had cautioned students that the university will take stern action against any students who were involved in placing the bogus call to the police.

The MalayMailOnline reported that the university re-opened at approximately 2pm but police presence remained heavy around the campus' premises.
