The sebenarnya.my portal, a one-stop centre for Malaysians to check on the legitimacy of any information before disseminating it, has gained 7.94 million views since it was launched in March.

The Communications and Multimedia Ministry said the total number of views, as at the end of June, showed that the portal was positively received by the people.

"The portal, which carries the slogan 'Not Sure, Don't Share', allows the public to check on the authenticity of online news being posted in social media, instant messaging services, blogs, websites and so on," said the ministry in a written reply to a question from Datuk Juslie Ajirol (BN-Libaran) in the Dewan Rakyat Tuesday.

Juslie had wanted to know on the feedback of the people towards the portal.

According to the ministry, the effectiveness of the portal in helping the government to curb the spread of false news and information had been recognised by the social media users.
