A school teacher aged 51 was remanded for seven days to assist investigations for allegedly raping a female student in a car.

The remand order was issued by Magistrate Zulhairil Sulaiman this morning after the suspect was arrested at his home in Tapah at 7pm, yesterday.

State CID chief, SAC Dev Kumar said the arrest was followed by a police report lodged at the Siburan Police Station at 5pm yesterday.

“A report was lodged by the victim’s mother after being informed by another teacher about the suspect’s pervasive act against her daughter.

“In the report, the victim’s mother claimed that the teacher took advantage to have sex with her daughter, who is a Secondary Two student in his car twice at an isolated area here.

Dev Kumar also said that upon receiving the report, Padawan CID searched for the suspect and had successfully tracked the suspect two hours later.

The suspect was arrested at his residence in Tapah near Serian.

The case is being investigated under Section 376 of the Penal Code for rape.
