Sarawak election: EC all set for nomination day

The Election Commission (EC) is all set to handle the nomination process for the 11th Sarawak State Election today.

EC chairman Datuk Seri Mohd Hashim Abdullah said preparations at the 82 nomination centres were proceeding smoothly.

"The EC will station adequate personnel, normally around 20, at each nomination centre depending on the size of the constituency to ensure a smooth nomination process," he told reporters after visiting the EC operations room at the Sarawak EC office, Sunday.

Mohd Hashim said he was happy with the preparations by the Sarawak EC, including the operations room which would remain open for the duration of the election.

He said the operations room would function round-the-clock until polling day on May 7 to ensure all business and delivery of information related to the election proceeded smoothly.
