The presence of Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad at the Bersih 4 rally over the weekend implies that the former prime minister is with the opposition parties in wanting to topple the nation's leader, said Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Seri Dr Salleh Said Keruak.

He also said that Dr Mahathir's attendance at the rally showed that he supported street demonstrations and the illegal Bersih rally, although he did not admit this.

"I do not see the basis for his saying he does not support Bersih but he attends the rally. This is a major change because Tun (Dr) Mahathir had at one time stated his opposition to street demonstrations," he told reporters after attending the National Day 2015 parade and procession here.

Salleh was asked to comment on Dr Mahathir's presence at the Bersih 4 rally on Saturday and Sunday.

He said Dr Mahathir was now seen as willing to cooperate with the opposition parties in an attempt to topple the country's leader.

"His action means that he is no longer loyal to UMNO and the Barisan Nasional, and I feel UMNO and the BN should take the appropriate action against him," he said.
