The government will introduce a new method of garbage management conceptualising on the use of more innovative green technology and applying the concept of garbage sale to generate income.

Ministry of Energy, Green Technology and Water secretary-general Datuk Seri Dr Zaini Ujang said the new method would use the waste to energy waste management technology as practised in Sweden.

"Currently, Sweden practises circular economy by maximising the use of a resource where used items such as bottles, paper and clothes are processed and generated to become a source of energy such as electricity," he told reporters, here Tuesday.

The explanation of the new concept would be made by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

Zaini hopes the initiative would raise the awareness of the green culture among Malaysians.

"There are still many who do not sort the waste according to material types and will take time and high costs for the separation and disposal processes when the wastes are mixed.

"So, the process for recycling is easier and sellers also make money when we buy used materials which have been separated."
