KUALA LUMPUR:Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) took note of the results of the Sabah State Election and respected the choice taken by the majority of the people of the state, said its President, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

In a statement today, the Chairman of Pakatan Harapan (PH) said the people of Sabah have fulfilled their responsibilities in the democratic process although the country was still in the phase of the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO) following the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.

However, the Port Dickson Member of Parliament said he hoped that the process of forming the state government could be led peacefully and wisely.

“I would like to congratulate the Warisan Plus friends, especially Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal and the Parti Warisan Sabah who have won 23 State Assembly (DUN) seats, DAP which has won six seats and UPKO which has won one seat.

“Congratulations are also extended to Datuk Christina Liew, Chairman of Keadilan Sabah on the success of Keadilan Sabah in defending the two seats won in the 14th General Election (GE-14) as well as good efforts, especially in DUN Sook which saw an increase of almost twice the percentage of votes for Keadilan compared to 2018,” he added.

In the meantime, Anwar said, he hoped that all parties, including the party leadership would comply with the instructions of the Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH) related to COVID-19, especially in the issue of screening and quarantine.

"The sudden increase in cases, especially infections in the community is very worrying, and I pray that Malaysians will always adhere to the MOH's standard operating procedures (SOP) and be protected from this epidemic," he added.
