"I was reluctant to dissolve the DUN (Sabah State Legislative Assembly) but I had to do it for the sake of the people and I hope the people will make the right choice later."

Those were the words of the interim Chief Minister of Sabah (caretaker), Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal referring to his action to dissolve the Sabah DUN on July 30.

For the President of the Parti Warisan Sabah (Warisan), the action was the best way to deal with the state's political crisis after there was an attempt to overthrow the government he led with UPKO, DAP and PKR.

"The Warisan Government is like a two-year-old child, but it has provided excellent services to the people but it was not easy as it was disturbed in and out of court," he said at the Tawau Community Hall while speaking at the handing over of the settlement lot to the fire victims of Kampung Tanjung Batu Otentik and the handing over of land grants in Tawau District and Kalabakan District on Saturday.

Also present were Tawau Member of Parliament, Datuk Christina Liew, Kalabakan MP Ma'mun Sulaiman and Sabah DAP Advisor, Datuk Jimmy Wong.

In another development, Mohd Shafie explained that his party had handed over land grants estimated at thousands of acres to the people of the state.
