The Education ministry is still waiting for the police to conclude its investigation on the ten secondary school students who were picked up by the police, after a video of them beating up another student at a field, went viral.

Education director-general Tan Sri Dr Khair Mohamad Yusof said the ministry could not take any sort of action as police investigation is still ongoing to determine whether to classify the incident as a bully case or gangsterism.

He said the ministry will take action according to the ministry’s standard operating procedure (SOP) once investigation is completed.

He also stressed that if there are any schools which are trying to ‘hide’ any heavy disciplinary cases from the ministry, strict action will be taken against the school’s management.
