IN a show of gratitude business tycoon Tan Sri Robert Kuok today issued a statement to fellow Malaysians who have spoken up to support him against attempts to besmirch his reputation and undermine his loyalty to the nation.

TAN Sri Robert Kuok would like to record his gratitude to fellow Malaysians who have spoken up in his support and against attempts to besmirch his reputation and undermine his loyalty to the nation.

Robert Kuok notes that the three articles on the online blog, Malaysia Today, containing various false and baseless allegations against him have been removed. The offending articles in questions were: “Malaysian Insight Funder Fingered” on 21st February 2018, “Robert Kuok Wants Chinese Rule in Malaysia” on February 21, 2018; and “Robert Kuok’s Last Chance at Changing the Government” on February 23, 2018.

On February 28, 2018, a complaint was filed with the Complaints Bureau of the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (“MCMC”) on behalf of Robert Kuok in respect of the offending articles, which were false news clearly in violation of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.

The Complaints Bureau and the MCMC have acted swiftly and on March 5, 2018 ordered Malaysia Today and its author Raja Petra Kamarudin to remove the offending articles.

Robert Kuok is grateful for the quick and appropriate action taken by the Complaints Bureau and the Enforcement & Investigation Division of the MCMC.

It should be noted that neither Malaysia Today nor Raja Petra Kamarudin have responded to letters issued by Robert Kuok’s solicitors in Malaysia and the United Kingdom.

Robert Kuok notes that Malaysia Today and Raja Petra Kamarudin have continued to make similar baseless statements in a number of related articles which have been published on the Malaysia Today website.

As such, Robert Kuok firmly reserves his rights to take all necessary legal steps against Malaysia Today and the author, and anyone repeating further libelous statements.
