The government will not hesitate to implement the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) in the event of a sharp increase in COVID-19 cases during the Recovery MCO (RMCO).

Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said it will be implemented in areas or localities where a sudden increase in cases occurred.

“I hope that we are all disciplined so that we can avoid a surge in COVID 19 cases.

“With the implementation of the RMCO, I urge all Malaysians to adopt the MySejahtera application which has been developed by the government to enable everyone to carry out self-assessment on health.

"The application will also enable the Ministry of Health to take prompt, accurate and effective action to identify and inform close contacts in the event of a COVID-19 infection in the community," he said in his special address on the Movement Control Order (MCO) here on Sunday.

In an effort to ensure that the COVID-19 pandemic remains in control, the Prime Minister said the people should take serious responsibility to adopt a new normal in life and adhere to all standard operating procedures (SOP) set by the government.

“This means that the responsibility for ensuring that the COVID-19 epidemic remains in control is in the hands of all of you.

“I also want to emphasize the importance of the role of community leaders including village heads, leaders of the community and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) in curbing the outbreak by ensuring that all members of the community comply with the government-mandated SOPs.

“Not less important is the role of employers. Employers must also ensure that all employees comply with the SOP at work," he said.

The Prime Minister said if the people continued to be disciplined and consistent, he believed that the outbreak of the COVID-19 epidemic would remain under control.

"We will enter the normalization phase after August 31, 2020 until the vaccine for the COVID-19 virus is discovered," he said.
