Sombre mood was evident at the funeral of the Royal Malaysian Air Force pilot, Major C.Kayamboo who died in the aircraft crash near the Butterworth airbase on Wednesday.

RMAF officers and personnel gave their final respect before the casket being lowered at the Batu Lancang Hindu burial ground at 5pm, today.

The casket carrying his remain arrived at the burial ground at 4.30pm. His wife, S.Usha and other family members who escorted the hearse remained calm and composed throughout final Hindu rites.

Kayamboo received full military honours granted by the RMAF. A Jalur Gemilang, used to drape his casket was handed over to his family members.

Over 300 people attended the funeral to pay their last respects. RMAF Air Operations Commander Datuk Seri Abdul Mutalib Wahab was also present.

Kayamboo's mother, known as Inderadewi, Usha and his two sons could not contain their emotions as the casket was lowered down.

The 45-year-old Kayamboo was killed while three others were injured when the twin turboprop Beechcraft B200T aircraft they were in crashed inside the Butterworth Airbase at 5.18pm yesterday.

All three injured are reported to be in stable condition.
