The Royal Malaysian Air Force's (RMAF) main priority now would be to recover the wreckage of the RMAF CN235 aircraft that crash-landed in Kuala Selangor said Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein.

Hishammuddin said the wreckage need to be recovered to investigate the cause of the incident.

"If the aircraft is removed from the crash site it will be easier to carry out investigations," he told reporters after visiting the family of the late Abu Hassan Abd Latib, 57, a villager who drowned while trying to reach the aircraft after it had crash-landed.

Also present were RMAF deputy chief Lt Gen Datuk Seri Affendi Buang and Kuala Selangor Member of Parliament Datuk Irmohizam Ibrahim.

A CN235 transport plane, based in Subang, was carrying eight people when it encountered trouble and crash-landed at Batu 2, Kuala Selangor at about 8.40am but all eight on board were reported safe.

Meanwhile, the late Abu Hassan's remains were buried at the Kampung Assam Muslim Cemetery after the Asar prayers yesterday.
