The allocation of RM41.3 billion to the Education Ministry under the 2016 Budget is proof of the government's concern to the education sector.

Education Minister Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid said the current global economic situation was not a deterrent for the government to provide a big allocation for the education field under the comprehensive budget that included all sectors such as development, curriculum, co-curriculum and Technical
Vocational Education Training (TVET).

He said the substantial provision for TVET would enable the country to produce more skilled manpower among the younger generation in the country.

"As a whole, the Prime Minister (Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak) has placed education as a priority, on par with other important matters, for our future," he told reporters after inspecting the SK Nanamun, which is in a dilapidated condition near here today.

Also present were Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia and Sabah Education Director Datuk Jame Alip.
