The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) said funds amounting to RM2.6 billion supposedly deposited into Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s personal account, were campaign donations and not funds from state investment company, 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).

In a statement issued today, the MACC said this was based on its investigation into SRC International.

It said the investigation report into the alleged transfer of funds had been referred to the Attorney-General.

MACC said it will continue to investigate SRC International, with regards to funds amounting to RM4 billion.

The statement also said several parallel investigations were being conducted simultaneously by the multi-agency Special Task Force formed to look into allegations of misappropriation of 1MDB funds.

MACC said its current investigation was focused on SRC International and the RM2.6 billion linked to Najib’s personal account.

Meanwhile, the police are also conducting related investigations into 1MDB, while Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) is looking into possible contraventions of financial rules and regulations connected to 1MDB.
