The issue of RM2.6 billion donation deposited into prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak's account is not related to investigations into 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB), said Public Accounts Committee (PAC) chairman Datuk Hasan Arifin today.

The PAC chairman stressed that the public must be clearly informed of the difference, he said.

"You must understand that 1MDB and RM2.6 billion are entirely different subjects. 1MDB has nothing to do with the RM2.6 billion...let the public know..both are separate issues," he said.

Hasan was speaking to reporters after chairing a joint meeting with a number of parties related to the aquaculture project in the Northern Corridor Economic Region (NCER) and East Coast Expressway 2 (LPPT 2) at Parliament, here today.

He said the PAC's view was based on an interim report by the Auditor-General on 1MDB.

Hasan added that the PAC would not call Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak over the 1MDB issue since it was not necessary.

"Not necessary anymore," he told reporters when pressed by reporters who wanted to know if Najib would be required to appear before the PAC because the PAC's previous chairman Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed had said Najib would be called if necessary.

However, the PAC will call the President and 1MDB chief executive Arul Kanda Kandasamy and his predecessor Datuk Mohd Shahrul Ibrahim Halmi, next week.

"They (Arul and Mohd Shahrol) are two important keys that we have to call first and follow up by any other persons we think we have to call," he said.
