The government, through the Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Ministry has set aside RM10 million for the retrenched Malaysian Airlines (MAS) staff.

Its minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the ministry is working together with Tekun Nasional and Agro Bank to offer loans to the former MAS staff to do business.

He said with the fund, the former employees will be offered loans between RM10,000 and RM50,000, depending on the business they wish to start.

“We will also be meeting the MAS union on how we can help those interested to start their own business and we will offer them related courses,” he said.

He said up to 3,000 former MAS employees can benefit from the RM10 million loan.
