Come Sept 1, members of the public who do not separate solid waste into suitable plastic bags before disposing them into designated rubbish bins that will be provided, face a compound fine of up to RM1,000.

Alam Flora chief executive, Mohd Zain Hassan said the company was intensifying its 3R (reduce, reuse and recycle) campaign to get the people to be aware of this.

"We have set up special Eco Rangers Alam Flora (Eco Rangers) squads for this purpose," he told reporters after such a campaign at the Bukit Istana housing area near here Saturday.

Enforcement on this will be carried out by the Solid Waste Corporation (SWCorp).
