Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob has urged the organizers to return deposit payments to traders following the government's announcement to cancel all forms of Ramadan bazaars this year.

He stressed that no individual should take advantage of their hardship as impacted by COVID-19.

"I hope that no one would take advantage of the hardship of others. They pay the deposit in the hope that the (Ramadan) bazaar will be opened and the government had made the decision not to allow them.

"So, please return the entire deposits made," he said at a press conference here on Tuesday.

Ismail Sabri wanted the affected individuals to emulate the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) who returned all the deposit payments to the traders.

"Let’s take the example of what happened at DBKL.

“DBKL is returning the deposit payments made to the owners of the bazaar booths. Or at least if they are not returning it, allow it to be used for next year.

“(However) it is best to give back to those who have already paid," he added.
