Parents and members of the public have been told to lodge complaints with the District Education Department if they have information of private kindergartens which have yet to register with the Education Ministry (MOE).

Kuala Lumpur Education Department's Private Education sector head, Mohd Najib Ab Rahman said the cooperation was important to ensure children attended classes under the National Preschool Standard Curriculum set by the ministry.

"They need to register with the ministry as MOE is monitoring the curriculum and want the enrollment of pupils entering preschool according to the Key Performance Indicator (KPI) set by the ministry," he told a press conference after attending the 2016 Kidz Running programme here Sunday.

The Kidz Running programme was aimed at raising the enrollment of children in preschool.

Under the programme, a total of 129 vehicles have been touring country in a convoy since Aug 25 to raise public awareness on preschool education and sending children to kindergartens registered with the ministry.

Parents had been advised to check on the status of private kindergartens before registering their children through the National Preschool Information System (SMPK) at https://smpk.moe.gov.my.
