The repair of health facilities destroyed by the big flood which ravaged Kelantan in December last year is expected to be completed by year end.

Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr S. Subramaniam said the government would have to spend RM73 million to repair the health facilities destroyed in Kelantan.

"The facilities being repaired in stages are expected to be completed by year end. We need two to three years to build new clinics," he told reporters after handing over donation to flood victims here, today.

Some 2,122 flood victims from Bachok, Pasir Mas, Tanah Merah and Kota Baharu districts received donation from the ministry's Flood Disaster Fund launched on January 22.

Dr Subramaniam said that all the clinics affected by the flood have been operating using existing facilities.

"Some are operating under tents until we provide permanent facilities such as cabins," he added.
