The action of voting to reject the 2016 Budget in Parliament is irresponsible because it impacts the civil service said Youth and Sport Minister Khairy Jamaluddin.

The Barisan Nasional (BN) and also UMNO Youth Chief, said other than forcing the stoppage of government service to the people, the action too, if successful, was a risk to civil servants in the aspect of salary payment.

This is because the government expenditure is based on the Parliament Act which required the approval of Parliament before the allocation revealed in the budget could be spent, he said.

"So, don't take the risk to boycott to defeat the Supply Bill because it is a very irresponsible action," he said when commenting on the Bersih 2.0's call for Members of Parliament to not support the 2016 Budget that will be tabled in Parliament tomorrow.

Talking to reporters after witnessing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the ministry and Malaysia Marine and Heavy Engineering Sdn Bhd (MMHE) here, today, Khairy, however, was confident the 2016 Budget would be passed with the full support of BN Members of Parliament.

"Go ahead if they want to boycott..but I am fully confident we will get a solid support from all BN Members of Parliament to pass the budget," he said.

Khairy, in the meantime, hoped the 2016 Budget provided a bigger allocation for his ministry since Malaysia would take part in the 2016 Rio Olympic Games, implement the Podium Programme and host the 2017 SEA Games.

Through the agreement today, 30 students of the National Youth Skill Institute (IKBN) would undergo industrial training at MMHE for three months every year and receive an allowance of up to RM350 a month and a chance to be absorbed as a permanent employee.

Khairy said the marketability of IKBN trainees rose to 85 percent currently due to the close cooperation with the industries.
