Komugi Bakery Malaysia today apologised for the incident where a rat was spotted in one of its trays of freshly baked bread at its store in a popular mall in Kuala Lumpur.

The apology statement was released after photos of a rat on top of a tray of bread went viral on social media after a Facebook user Melon Roux uploaded them on Sunday.

Komugi said the issue will be resolved with the mall management.

“Food safety and quality are our utmost priority and we take all cases very seriously. We are currently working with relevant authorities and the mall management to investigate this isolated incident,” Komugi explained.

As an immediate measure to assist in the investigation, Komugi Bakery will close its outlet at Mid Valley Megamall until further notice.

“We will keep our communication channels open for any enquiries and concerned parties can contact us at [email protected],” it said.

Melon Roux, who was surprised to see a rat on a bread tray, shared the incident on Facebook, last Sunday.
