Kedah will observe seven days of mourning beginning today until Sept 27 following the death of Raja Puan Muda Tunku Hajah Raudzah binti Almarhum Sultan Hisamuddin Alam Shah, 86, at 10.15 this morning.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir, who made the announcement on her death at the Wisma Darulaman today said the Raja Puan Muda of Kedah passed away at the Hospital Sultanah Bahiyah (HSB) due to ill health.

"On behalf of the state government, I convey condolences to the Duli Yang Teramat Mulia Tunku Abdul Malik ibni Almarhum Sultan Badlishah, the Raja Muda of Kedah and all members of the Royal Family," he said at a media conference here.

He said funeral prayers for Tunku Hajah Raudzah would be held at the Dewan Penghadapan, Istana Anak Bukit at 3 pm today and her remains would be placed at the same place from 4pm to 5pm for the people to pay their last respects.

Mukhriz said the remains of the Raja Puan Muda of Kedah would later be laid to rest at the Langgar Royal Mausoleum at 6pm today.

The Menteri Besar said Tunku Hajah Raudzah's remains would be taken to the Royal Mausoleum via Lebuhraya Darulaman, Lebuhraya Sultanah Bahiyah, Jalan Langgar and subsequently to the Royal Mausoleum.

The state, federal and other flags should be flown at half-mast for three days beginning today, while throughout the duration of mourning, all entertainment events would be cancelled.

Meanwhile in KUALA LUMPUR, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak conveyed his condolences on the death in his Twitter website.
