Kelantan Wanita UMNO chief Datin Rahimah Mahammad was sworn in today as senator for a second three-year term.

She took her oath of office before Senate President Datuk S.A. Vigneswaran at the Dewan Negara.

Rahimah, 64, who is also chairman of the Caring Women''s Club and Muslim Women''s Welfare Board, was re-appointed by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Muhammad V.

In welcoming Rahimah''s reappointment, Vigneswaran said it reflected government recognition of her dedication and contribution during the last term.

The First Meeting of the Fifth Session of the Dewan Negara began today, and will end on April 27.
