PKR vice president Mohd Rafizi Ramli was ordered by the Sessions Court here today to enter his defence for intentionally insulting and provoking UMNO members to breach the peace.

Judge Azwarnida Affandi set Aug 20 for the defence trial after ruling that the prosecution had succeeded in establishing a prima facie case against the accused, 38, who is also Pandan Member of Parliament.

Mohd Rafizi allegedly committed the offence as PKR's strategic director through an article, 'Will Rafizi quit if Selangor is not toppled?', at the office of The Edge Malaysia Communication Sdn Bhd in Mutiara Damansara at 11.40pm on Feb 4, 2014.

The charge under Section 504 of the Penal Code carries a maximum jail term of two years or a fine or both, upon conviction.

Deputy public prosecutor Mohd Azari Harun represented the prosecution while counsel Eric Paulsen defended Mohd Rafizi.
