PKR vice-president Rafizi Ramli said he could not wait to defend his statement in court, following the defamation suit filed by Datuk Seri Najib Razak and Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor against him.

“I just got to know about the suit filed by Datuk Seri Najib and Datin Seri Rosmah on one of my statements.

“I’m excited in having to defend my statement in court. When I received the letter of demand last December, I had discussed the possibility of this summon being brought to court,” he said in a statement today.

The Pandan MP said, his lawyers were also prepared to cross-examine the Prime Minister and his wife in court.

Rafizi, however, said he has yet to receive any confirmation or letter but believed it was a follow-up to the letter of demand that was sent to him last Dec 14.

“I believe this is part of an effort to intimidate the Pakatan Rakyat leadership. I will continue to speak out and am not afraid with legal actions such as these,” he said.

Yesterday, Najib and Rosmah had filed the defamation suit towards Rafizi and the owner of ‘Media Rakyat’ portal, Chan Chee Kong on the issue of oil subsidy through Messrs Hafarizam Wan & Aisha Mubarak at the High Court Registry.
