The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has pointed out that public confidence and support for the MACC have increased due to the various initiatives and actions undertaken by the commission since 2009.

MACC Strategic Communications director Datuk Rohaizad Yaakob said through its transformation programme, the commission had implemented various operational strategies to prevent corruption, manage human capital effectively and increase anti-corruption efforts.

"We have adopted various strategies and holistic approaches, including 'engagements' with stakeholders to improve the performance of the MACC," he said in a statement here.

The statement was in response to a Malaysia Today article written by Raja Petra Kamaruddin today and entitled, 'When MACC literally gets away with murder' in which the blogger alleged that MACC's investigations relating to high-profile cases were being pursued by the commission vigourously to boost its credibility and gain public confidence.

Rohaizad said the MACC had a duty and moral obligation to carry out thorough investigations.

He said MACC as an independent commission would carry out investigations on every case in a transparent and professional manner.
