In just one minute, the Ministry of Health (MOH) recorded a total of 700,000 registrations on the MySejahtera application following the government's announcement that RM50 would only be credited into the E-wallet of individuals who installed the application.

In this regard, Health Director-General Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the public should practice 'social distancing' when downloading or registering themselves on the application to reduce the 'traffic congestion'.

"If we can practice social distancing, then there will be no congestion here ... if everyone registers at the same time within a minute, there is bound for something to happen (congestion) which will hinder us from getting registered.

"So we are looking at how we can address this issue and maybe we will extend the registration period within 24 hours or a week to get everyone registered," he said during a press conference here today.

MySejahtera is an application co-developed by the MOH, Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation and the National Cyber Security Agency (Nacsa) to help monitor the spread of COVID-19 outbreaks in the country by enabling users to carry out self-health assessments.

Earlier, Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the government would only credit RM50 into the E-Wallets of individuals as previously announced by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin when presenting the National Economic Recovery Plan (PENJANA) - if they had downloaded the MySejahtera application.
