Police will be summoning the organiser of the illegal anti-government rally in the federal capital yesterday to facilitate its investigations, said Deputy Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Noor Rashid.

He said the organiser had flouted the laws and would be investigated under Section 4 of the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012.

"We have informed earlier that organising any kind of public assembly must first get approval from the police because this involves public order.

"They had indeed submitted (an application) but it was rejected as they failed to submit an authorisation letter from the owner of the gathering location," he told reporters after attending the Inspector-General of Police's
Cup Football Tournament here Sunday.

The three-hour illegal rally yesterday was lacklustre and not well received as only about 1,500 people turned up.

Meanwhile, Noor Rashid advised all quarters who wished to hold an assembly to adhere to the laws to ensure that action would not be taken against them.
