The police have set up a task force to investigate the mysterious disappearance of prominent government prosecutor Anthony Kevin Morais on Friday.

Kuala Lumpur CID chief Datuk Zainuddin Ahmad said today, the team was formed to get to the bottom of Morais' disappearance after he was last seen leaving his apartment in Menara Duta in Kuala Lumpur.

He declined to elaborate on the task force.

Morais, the deputy head of the appellate and trial division in the Attorney-General’s Chambers was scheduled to arrive at his office in Putrajaya on Friday.

There has been no news on the prosecutor's whereabouts.

Meanwhile, the police have yet to find any evidence which could link the discovery of a burnt car in Kampung Sungai Samak, Hutan Melintang, Perak yesterday, to Morais' disappearance.

"The investigations are ongoing and the missing man's car has not been found," said Zainuddin.

Morais was reported to be driving a government-issue grey Proton Perdana bearing registration number WA6264Q.
