Tawau police seize 5,071.62 kg of drugs suspected to be syabu worth RM350,000 after nabbing a male drug mule at the Tawau Airport arrival hall here at 10.45 am yesterday.

Tawau District Police chief, ACP Fadil Marsus said the 46-year-old suspect who had just arrived from Kuala Lumpur was detained based on information gathered by a Sabah Narcotic CID-Tawau police cooperation.

"He was taken to the Tawau Airport Police Station for inspection. Police found two boxes hidden among some clothes in a black bag belonging to him.

"Two packages wrapped in tin foil and carbon paper were found in one box each containing an opaque plastic packet of clear crystals suspected to be syabu.

"The second box had three packages wrapped in tin foil and carbon paper containing plastic packets of the same crystals," he told a media conference here today.

Fadil said the suspect, a cyber cafe operator from Selangor, was positive on Methamphetamine and had two criminal records.

He was remanded seven days and investigated under Section 39B and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 10952. -- Bernama
