Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia President Muhyiddin Yassin is scheduled to have his statement recorded by the police on Nov 15 for remarks that he made at parliament recently regarding 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).

"I have been summoned by the Inspector General of Police to give my statement on Nov 15," he told reporters after meeting with Opposition members of Parliament with former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad on Tuesday.

Muhyiddin had made some remarks relating to 1MDB during the tabling of Budget 2017. The former deputy prime minister, however, said the remarks were not considered as sensitive to the extent that they were deemed as seditious.

"My recent remarks were not seditious because my lawyers told me that what would fall under the Sedition Act are fundamental matters concerning the institution of monarchy, Malay rights and privileges, languages, or (remarks) that would incite hatred between different races and cause havoc," Muhyiddin said.

Parti Warisan Sabah President and Semporna MP Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal was summoned by the police recently over his recent speech in Parliament on 1MDB.

Former Finance Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Husni Hanadzlah was also called in for questioning by the police.

Inspector General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said the police have enough evidence to investigate Ahmad Husni for sedition for his statement at Parliament on 1MDB.
