Police have recorded the statement from Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Minister, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob in connection to his controversial call on Facebook which had gone viral since early this month.

Ismail Sabri was seen arriving at Bukit Aman around 2.35pm, today.

Also seen entering the police headquarters were several other individuals in two separate vehicles.

Earlier, Inspector General of Police, Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said that the statement was taken to assist in police investigations regarding his statement on Facebook which is alleged to have racial connotations.

He added, apart from Ismail Sabri, several other individuals will also called in relation to the case, including from MCA, Gerakan and DAP who had previously issued a statement in rebuttal to the minister.

Police have also opened an investigation into a death threat received by Ismail Sabri.

The case is being investigated under Section 506 of the Penal Code.

Ismail Sabri came under fire recently over his Facebook posting urging consumers to boycott traders who had indiscriminately raised prices of goods.

His statement however had been labelled as racist as it had targeted Chinese traders.
