It will be left to the police to determine whether to take action against former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad for attending the Bersih 4 rally over the weekend, said Deputy Home Minister Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed.

He said the police had been given the responsibility to handle matters pertaining to the rally which they had declared illegal.

"That is his (Dr Mahathir's) right to do it (attend the rally), but now we leave it to the police to take action," Nur Jazlan told reporters after attending a briefing at the Malaysia Expatriate Talent Service Centre (MYXpats) on Tuesday.

Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Seri Abdul Wahid Omar was also present at the event.
