Penang police have identified the people believed to be involved in the shooting of a businesswoman at Jalan Bukit Gambir near Taman Pekaka, here last month.

Penang Deputy Police Chief, Datuk Roslee Chik said police were carrying out further investigation and intelligence including arresting those involved in the incident.

In addition, he said, police had also received several new leads on the shooting incident and believed the case could be resolved soon.

"The police were still continuing investigation on the case and we certainly have several new leads on those involved and we are going all out to track them down," he told reporters after attending the 210th Police Day Memorial at the Penang State Contingent Police Headquarters, here today.

Roslee said the motive for the murder had yet to be identified but he believed the case could be solved based on police investigation.

Asked whether the victim or her family had received any threat before the shooting, he said the victim's family had never received any threat from anyone.

In the incident on Feb 21, the victim, Ruby Lee Poh Ai, 49, who was driving alone, was approached by two men riding on a motorcycle before one of them fired more than 10 shots toward the woman.

The victim, who was a businesswoman dealing in shipping logistics, was shot in the head and body from the direction of the driver's side window.
