Police detained an Indonesian maid and her boyfriend on suspicion of being involved in the murder of an elderly woman at a house in Sungai Kantan, Kajang, Selangor, last month.

Kajang District Police Chief ACP Othman Nanyan said following intelligence work and public tip-off, a team of policemen from the Kajang Police Criminal Investigation Division detained the 25-year-old woman at a housing project site in Nilai, Negeri Sembilan at 2.20 pm on Thursday.

He said the 29-year-old man, also an Indonesian national, was picked up at the Pajam College Valley flats on the same day.

"After questioning, the two confessed to murdering the victim," he said in a statement today.

Othman said both suspects had been remanded for six days beginning yesterday to help in the investigations under Section 302 of the Penal Code.

On May 6, a 65-year-old woman was found dead in the master bedroom of her house and the post mortem revealed that the victim died due to smothering and that there were bite marks on her right nipple, believed to be from a human.

Othman said the victim was a retired secretary of a bank director who lived with her maid after her husband died 15 years ago, and had no children.

The maid ran away from the house after the incident, he said.
