Police detained five men and seized various types of fireworks and firecrackers worth RM7,100 during a raid at Kluang Ramadan Bazaar, last night.

Kluang police chief, ACP Mohamad Laham said the sellers aged 25 to 44, were arrested in Ops Cantas Khas Ramadan, about 11 pm.

"The raid was carried out based on information related to the selling of fireworks and firecrackers at the bazaar. Among fireworks and firecrackers seized in the box had the names of ''Happy Boom Glow Of Sunset'', ''Football Crackers'' and ''Happy Boom King Cat-7''," he said in a statement today.

Mohamad said the inspection found that one of the dealers had previous record related to drugs.

The case was investigated under Section 8 of the Explosives Act 1957 which carries a maximum of seven years imprisonment or RM10,000 fine or both, if convicted.
