Police denied the authenticity of reports and images of a group of mat rempit donning red shirts rallying along Jalan Chow Kit, Pavilion and Bukit Bintang going viral on social media.

Kuala Lumpur police chief, Datuk Tajuddin Md Isa said the images were not true nor was there any such group roaming around the city.

"There are no road blocks around Kuala Lumpur especially on roads leading to Low Yat Plaza (in Bukit Bintang).

"The public is advised to obtain verification from the nearest police station, and not to believe or be affected by the dissemination of unfounded images and news," Tajuddin said in a statement here, today.

He said stern action will be taken against any individual suspected of disseminating seditious information and intimidating the public.

Tajuddin said police will continue to ensure the safety of the people and public order around Kuala Lumpur.
