Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar has denied allegations that the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has initiated an investigation into the case of 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

He said the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) never received any notification of the alleged investigations conducted by the FBI.

"I'm referring to several articles which are being circulated on the social media claiming that the FBI had begun investigations into the 1MDB and the prime minister.

"The agency has not even requested for any form of assistance from PDRM in relation to the matter," he said in a statement Saturday night.

As such, Khalid advised anyone interested in getting verification on the matter to contact the FBI directly in Washington and not refer solely to media reports.
