The police have submitted the report on the cycling incident involving 22 youths teenagers who were detained for racing in the city recently to Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin.

Johor police chief Datuk Seri Wan Ahmad Najmuddin Mohd said the report was submitted to the menteri besar last Tuesday.

"We have completed the report (on the incident) and submitted it to the Menteri Besar (for further action).

"I have been informed that the Menteri Besar has issued a directive for studies to be conducted on existing laws," he told reporters after a shooting competition with the media which was held in conjunction with the 210th Police Day celebration here today.

The report was made following the arrest of the 22 cyclists who were caught racing along Jalan Lingkaran Dalam near the Mahmoodiah Muslim Cemetery last April 2, the same location where eight teenagers died while doing the same thing last Feb 18.

Wan Ahmad Najmuddin said the report contained, among others, suggestion for parents of teenagers caught cycling in a dangerous manner to be taken action against under the Child Act 2001.

In the incident which occurred last Feb 18, eight boys were killed and eight more were injured when a car hit them while they were cycling on Jalan Lingkaran Dalam here.
