Having Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak on the doorstep of her dilapidated house was the least on visually-impaired Hasana Osman's mind.

It gave her a big surprise when the prime minister arrived at her house today to visit her mother, Mek Nab Awang, 72, who is bedridden following a stroke 10 years ago.

"I am very happy and grateful to have the prime minister at my house. It has never crossed my mind to have the prime minister come visit us.

"All this while, I only hear his name on the radio," said Hasana, 52, to Bernama at her house in Chabang Tiga Melawi here today.

She also thanked the prime minister for approving an allocation of RM56,000 for building of a new house for her.

Hasana, despite being blind, cooks and cares for her mother. She lost her sight since small.

She sells ice-cream to supplement the RM200 a month allowance from the Welfare Department, said the woman.

Besides visiting Hasana and her mother, Najib also visited two other poor families in Bachok.

They are Mat Hassan Mohamed, 69, and Rohana Che Ali, 52, both in Kampung Chabang Tiga Bator, who also received aid for building of a new house.
