Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak might bring the issue of Myanmar's Rohingya Muslims to the attention of U.S. President Donald Trump during a scheduled meeting between the two next week.

"Yes, I might bring this matter to him (Trump)," Datuk Seri Najib said when asked by newsmen after chairing the Barisan Nasional Supreme Council meeting today.

At the same time, the premier reiterated the government's commitment in fighting for the rights of the Rohingya.

"This was among the matters decided during the meeting today," he added.

Datuk Seri Najib will head to Washington D.C. for a working visit on Sept 12, under Trump's invitation.

A Wisma Putra statement said the meeting would focus on strengthening bilateral ties between Malaysia and the U.S.
