Phase One of the Mass Rapid Transit Sungai Buloh-Kajang (MRT SBK) Line involving the route from Sungai Buloh to Semantan will be launched by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak tomorrow.

The launch will create a history in the public transport system in the Klang Valley when the 23km route open to commuters.

The Phase One route covers 12 stations, namely Sungai Buloh, Kampung Selamat, Kwasa Damansara, Kwasa Sentral, Kota Damansara, Surian, Mutiara Damansara, Bandar Utama, Taman Tun Dr Ismail, Phileo Damansara, Pusat Bandar Damansara and Semantan.

The launch is scheduled for 3pm at the Kwasa Damansara MRT station, and the service will start operations at 6am on Friday (Dec 16).

According to MRT Strategic Communications and Stakeholder Relations director Datuk Najmuddin Abdullah, Phase Two of the MRT SBK Line from Semantan to Kajang involving 19 stations is scheduled to be completed in July.

He said that with the completion of the second phase, it will benefit approximately 1.2 million people in the Klang Valley.

A feeder service involving 112 buses will provide connectivity to all 12 stations along the Phase One route, with a frequency of 10 to 15 minutes with tickets priced at RM1 for one-way trip. Vehicle parking facilities are also provided. - BERNAMA
