Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin said something was amiss with the establishment of the Darul Ehsan Investment Group (DEIG) by the Selangor Menteri Besar, Azmin Ali.

He said it was as though Azmin was not being transparent as the explanation about DEIG was only made following its disclosure.

“It is as if there was a hidden agenda, because he only provided an explanation when it was disclosed.

“If it was not disclosed at the State Legislative Assembly, I do not know if an explanation would have been provided or not,” said Khairy.

Khairy also slammed PKR which had previously accused the government of not being transparent in regards to the 1MDB issue, when in reality the party portrayed the same attitude.

“For us we are clear about the 1MDB issue. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak said that we can investigate, anyone can investigate.

“We sent it to the Parliment... we sent it to the Public Accounts Committee (PAC). We are transparent as we have nothing to hide,” said Khairy.

Several members of the Selangor State Legislative Assembly including former Selangor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim had raised concerns over the establishment of DEIG.

Azmin said that DEIG was established in December, 2014 aimed at taking over the role of the Menteri Besar Incorporated (MBI) to ) to manage the investments of its subsidiaries.

Azmin added that the establishment of DEIG could reduce the business impact and risks towards the state, while MBI will focus on the people's welfare and corporate social responsibility.
