The Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Youth Wing (AMK) continues to regard Tun Dr Mahathir as the cause of the collapse of the Pakatan Harapan (PH) government when he resigned without consulting the PH Presidential Council.

AMK chief, Akmal Nasir said as a result of that, the party was not in agreement with DAP's willingness to support Dr Mahathir to be prime minister again.

Akmal said, he believed the AMK's stand represented the PKR grassroots and PH supporters.

"It is true that if the Perikatan Nasional is allowed to stay in power, the situation will continue to worsen. But enough with the method of choosing ‘the lesser of two evils’.

"If other partners want to restore the people's mandate, convince the five to support PH, instead of forgoing our support a second time," he said in a statement on Thursday.

The Johor Bahru MP insisted that the 'back door' to betray the people's mandate had been betrayed earlier.

Akmal quoted an example that PKR had never suggested Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali and his group be appointed ministers.

However, he stressed that Dr Mahathir still chose Azmin and formed the Cabinet according to his ‘appetite’ and not with the consent of all parties in PH.

"The policy of ‘divide and rule’ such as this has resulted in chaos in the party. Until now, Azmin's actions with his Sheraton Move have never been criticised.

"When asked or consideration sought for, the leadership will start to show its executive powers," he added.

Akmal also said, Dr Mahathir had never attempted to diffuse the severe attacks on PH with religious and racial sentiments.

Instead, he said, Dr Mahathir as prime minister then added to the split by condoning The Malay Dignity Congress.

"PH should move beyond such sentiments and political arrangements.

"Let us not forget the nature and essence of one who adheres to the principle of mutual respect regardless of race, religion or culture.

"There is no need to detail it out one by one anyone, suffice for it to be a warning.

"We can have all kinds of agreements or mechanisms, but if you keep breaking (promises) it's hard to trust anymore," he said.

On Wednesday, Malaysiakini reported DAP organising secretary Anthony Loke as saying that PH and its allies had been exploring two possible combinations for the post of prime minister and deputy prime minister.

The first combination involved Anwar Ibrahim as prime minister and Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir as his deputy.

However, it did not receive support from PH's allies, so a new proposal was raised by pairing Dr Mahathir as prime minister with Anwar as his deputy.
