A pharmacy in Selayang near here has been compounded a total of RM20,000 for selling face masks above the controlled price.

The chief enforcement officer of the Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry (KPDNHEP) branch office in Gombak, Azli Aripin said the pharmacy was inspected at 6.30pm Wednesday following complaints from the public.

He added that it was given 14 days to pay the compound fine.

"An enforcement officer disguised as a customer found the pharmacy was selling two-ply face masks at RM1 each when the controlled price is only 20 sen each," he said in a statement here.

He said about 45 units of face masks, valued at RM45, were seized.
