Perlis UMNO Liaison Body is in full support of Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak's leadership which has been under pressure following criticisms from former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamed about various issues, including 1Malaysia Development Board (1MDB).

However, its chairman, Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim, said Perlis UMNO wished to see the spat between Najib and Dr Mahathir to be solved immediately in view of the upcoming Permatang Pauh and Rompin by-elections.

As such, he said Perlis UMNO proposed for the two leaders to have a four-eye meeting.

"We feel that it is best for the spat to be solved through the meeting so that Umno's strength will not be jeopardised in view with the upcoming Permatang Pauh and Rompin by-elections," he told reporters after chairing Perlis UMNO Liaison Body meeting here Sunday.

Meanwhile, Shahidan said he would lead 1,000 UMNO members go to Rompin, before heading another team of 1,000 Umno members to Permatang Pauh, to help campaigning for Barisan Nasional candidates in the two by-elections scheduled for May 5 and 7, respectively.
